Studio Policies
As I try to run a neat and professional studio, there are few suggestions that I would like to make in order to help lessons run smoothly. They are:
- Practice! A student does not become magically better just by taking lessons- he/she should practice a certain amount on a daily basis. Depending on the age level/experience of the student, this daily amount of practice time will vary quite a bit. During every lesson, I will go over some basic practice expectations with the student, and I may suggest an amount of time that I expect the student to practice during the week. For some students, it may be important for the parent to be part of the practice routine, while other students may be more independent in their practice routine.
- Come prepared! Students should always arrive with their instrument (including bow, rosin, shoulder rest/sponge, dust cloth) and music to their lessons.
- Once a student signs up for lessons, it is important that I set up a payment policy with the parent (which will often be done at the first lesson or beforehand). The parent will be expected to stick with that plan unless an emergency arises. Prices for lessons are listed on the home page, and remember: I'm not all about making money. If there is a verifiable financial issue in the family that I am more than willing to negotiate a cheaper price..
- Parents may come with their child to the lessons, so long as they do not serve as a distraction from what their child is learning. The same goes for siblings or any other family members.
